It was a busy week in the classroom as we said goodbye to September and fully embraced the fall season. There was lots of rain this week, which sadly kept us in the gym. However, the children did not seem to mind and were happy to run and play. They loved getting a chance to play with the blocks, dress up, and balls in the gym.
Ms. Olga was here on Monday and Thursday for Spanish. The children and Ms. Olga spoke in Spanish about different foods and the changing weather. The children learned how to describe the cooler weather in Spanish.
On Tuesday, Ms. Niza was here for yoga and this week’s theme was “Memory Games.” Though it’s hard to believe, it was time for the mid-session yoga party!
Yoga class began by repeating the Tummy and Chest Breathing exercises, and then they played some yoga games.
- Balloons and Confetti: The children were “floating in the air” like balloons and then were “falling down gently” as confetti.
- The Chase: The children practiced their yoga animal poses as dogs chasing cats and cats chasing mice.
- Musical Yoga: Ms. Niza would call out a yoga pose and the children were challenged to remember the pose and to quickly embody that pose.
For relaxation, using their “mind’s-eye,” they all became balloons that were flying up and away. Namaste!
Ms. Kathy was here this week for tumbling and the children were happy to see her as always! Before starting, they all stretched together to music, and then they had fun playing games and running in the gym.
Much work was done in the classroom this week as well. Some of the children are still learning the correct way to handle work but that’s to be expected!
This week’s show and tell theme was “something red.” And the children had lots to share with us!
